around here they use Hoosiers or McCrearys. the local boys running in the street stock class run Big O's. I cant remember the design though. they dont last long on pavement.

it's very unsafe using those tires on the street not to mention being against the law A DUMB THING// add to that the fact that in the case of a serious crash if you"re found with non-dot tires you void any insurance coverage you have and become liable for everything out of your own pocket.... is it worth risking everything you own now and anything you may get in the future to run those tires??????

Been around dirt racin' for over 30 yrs. And never heard or seen dirt tires on the street. Like C Downs said not DOT approved.

I think he is looking for the tires that some sanctioning bodies call for in the rules. they specify DOT tires. they DO ride nice, just dont last long.

I had a set of dirt track tires about 3 years ago. I only used them a few times to see what kinda traction I could get with them. They dont last long at all, I wouldnt recommend them for street use at all. I stick to my BFG T/A's for the street

the DIRT STARS i had where DOT.
as for wear i dont drive the truck enough to worry about it and its not like i plan on driving it in the monsoons we have.
as for unsafe i had tubes in them so how are they any more unsafe than a typical tire. i wasnt using the car for carving corners etc. so i didnt need the stiff sidewall etc.
the truck gets used once a week for a walmart/groceries run (couple miles) if that. hell my 96 z71 only got 6k put on it in like 3 yrs since i have the bike to ride. :p

I wasnt saying you are stupid for wanting to put them on the street, so dont get mad. I was just stating that they dont last long.

"i had tubes in them so how are they any more unsafe than a typical tire." They are alot softer then most tires, I played around with mine about 3 times and wore a hole in one. Tubes may help, but when you wear them out you cant run very long with a tube running on asphalt.
