Matching 3/4 ton 4X4 Front & Rear 410 Running Gear

I have a set of 1972 3/4 ton 4X4 running gear with corperate rear. Factory possi on the rear and 4.10 gears. $450.00 buys the set. Good running gear, but I am changing out to a Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear with 3.07 gears for project "Muscle Truck". WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I like to give names to my projects. Project "Muscle Truck" is being named that because I will be using it to pull my 24' enclosed trailer to the swap meets. It is a 72 Cheyenne K-20 with A/C that I am installing a dana 60 front, dana 70 rear, t-400/205 tranny/transfer case, 402 big block and electric fans. The truck will have most of the options that were availible for these trucks, like A/C, shoulder harness seat belts, bucket seats, tach/vac dash, tilt column, duel batteries, duel gas tanks, and etc. It will be kind of like the "Garden Truck" on steroids.. Then again...how about this Schubeck 904 cubic inch monster? Now that will yank your trailer and your bank account all at one time!

I have already found the D-60 posi rear I need, just haven't picked it up yet. I have a 4.09 3/4ton 44 disk front from a 72 and another from a 75 but was looking for a true 4.10 Dana 44... I like to have an exact match, I'm funny that way. Is your 72 front a 4.09 or 4.10 and would you consider selling just the front?

Without pulling the covers I am not sure. They are the stock gears from the factory. I don't want to split the pair though. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Re: Matching 3/4 ton 4X4 Front & Rear 410 Running Gear

The Muscle Truck must have a Dodge Dana 61 front to be 3.07 gears and the Dana 70 Dodge used with it. The lowest gear for a dana 60 is 3.33 used in Fords. On the project I`m working on I`m useing Dana 61 front (Dodge) and Dana 61 rear (Ford) with 3.00 gears. Are you using the Chevy front sway bar on the project, 73-up?
Later Willis

Re: Matching 3/4 ton 4X4 Front & Rear 410 Running Gear

Wow, I thought that this post had gone by the wayside. The axles that I am using under "Muscle Truck" are 1990 Dodge axles out of a Deisel. I am having to modify the spring mounts on the frame to use them.
The axles that I had for sale are gone now. One of the board members bought them a weak ago and came down to pick them up. I will have another set though if I buy a 78 3/4 ton Suburban that has the t-400 / 205 transfer case that I need. The rear spring perches would have to be moved though to bolt under a 67-72. Any interest there? I would also have a good running 454 for sale also. I would be willing to sell out the whole Burb without tranny and transfer case also pretty reasonible. Just exploring my avenues for now. WES

Re: Matching 3/4 ton 4X4 Front & Rear 410 Running Gear

The guy tells me that he thinks that they are 4.10 but is unsure. He says that it winds up pretty tight going down the freeway, so my guess is that he is probably right. WES

Re: Matching 3/4 ton 4X4 Front & Rear 410 Running Gear

I haven't bought the burb yet. I am awaiting pictures and etc. Price will depend on condition. If they are in good shape probably $450.00 for the set. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
