What did you get done?
Nothing truck related for me "again" I spent the week doing the usual, and Saturday was burnt up doing things around the house. Today me and the yard crew spread 3 yards of mulch, bagged 18 big bags of trimmings, then trimmed and mowed the grass.
Then I repaired my daughters trampoline, and now I need to repair a faucet. What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?
Put some oil into my Blazer, and found the bad ground on it. Helped my brother find an oil leak on his subaru. Hung out with my dad and had dinner with him. Went and partied a little Friday and Saturday night. Ohh yeah, just got done doing some yard work.

Re: What did you get done?
Did some work on my 85 Silverado in anticipation of selling it. It had been sitting for a few months, so I took it out for a romp to "stretch it's legs". It ran horribly, taking forever to get up to speed. Got it home, played with the timing a bit, and when I took again it would take off like like it had a purpose.
Played with the timing on my 86 GMC. Still have some ping at WOT when the revs start getting up there (no tach, not sure what RPM). Base timing is at about 10 degrees now, going to knock that back to 8 and see if it gets rid of the ping. Also did some end-of-season yardwork and loaded a bunch of junk into the truck for a trip to the dump. |

Re: What did you get done?
I washed, waxed, and detailed the 85. Installed the carpet and new seat in the 86, but i still need dye and install all of the headliner trim. I also dyed the blue seatbelts black and installed them. It is actually starting to look like a truck. I might even fire it up next weekend, depending on how much I get done this week.
Also put new brake pads on the wifes Trailblazer. |

Re: What did you get done?
Saturday was my birthday, so I tinkered a bit in the garage. I got the 74 in the garage to start stripping the front end off for all new parts. Went with my father to look at a 440/727 for his old sedan, it's amazing what people are trying to pull off as re-built these days!! Anywho, sunday I went to help a buddy with a brake job on his blazer, then I k2'd some fenders for a 37 chevy truck, looks real good, wish I had one. Looking forward to a great fall/winter work session on my projects!! Oh, also did a little work on the 41 coupe, in the last 2 weeks I've put a mustang cobra suspension in the rear and mustang 2 front clip in the front. I know, I know...the whole ford thing, but a 9" posi rear end really looks good What did you all get done???

Re: What did you get done?
I got fairly amgry at my '76 Civic CVCC. I finally traced the short and fixed it and my alternator needed repalcement. NAPA had ONE in California - luckily it was 30 miles away and they brought it for me. He told me there was only one in Oregon and non in other surrounding states. When it got here it had a bent pulley and broken insulator but I had to take it becaue that's all I had to get. They also did not want a core because they are no longer are rebuilding them. I installed it and started the car and tested the elecrical system and it was runnging great. I then noticed a smell and looked down at the engine and the carb was pouring gas all over the engine. I shut it off and found O-rings that went bad. WHILE THE CAR WAS SITTING FOR 2 WEEKS!!!! Can you tell I'm angry? I went to get a carb rebuild kit becaue all the O-ring I looked at felt like hard plastic. It was discontinued. We scoured the parts book and found a discontinued kit they would ship from another store for me. So I'm waiting to fix the little bugger. I have a feeling that in a couple years it breaks down, there will be no parts for it period. My truck is still sitting in the driveway. I have started working on an LED dome light.

Re: What did you get done?
i have completely installed the front end components(tie rods ball joints etc.) all new moog stuff from top to bottom. this is on my new swb frame that i have to swop due to frame twisted and then the steering box broke off. spring were a pita but i concored them by modifying the sring tool a little bit (ssssshhhhoooooo the package said not to do it, it also said not to use air tools on them also ooooppppppppsssssss anyway its done now i can start stripping the original truck to mount the old truck body on a new frame there is still a lot of work ahead of me because i am very picky about what i do to my truck i also helped lay commercial carpet in a bank saturday and sunday made some good change in my pocket to spend on the truck other than that i slept (not much) BTW the new hooptie would look really good next to my truck if it bothers you that much

Re: What did you get done?
On Sat. I became a married man!!! We had our civil wedding that day. I will try to get some pics. on the computer to post up for you guys.
On Sun. I personally introduced my two loves to each other. (My wife and my '83 ) She liked it and was pretty supportive as to my ideas of what I want to do to her. Hopefully it was not just becasue we had been only married for 24hrs, but that she actually meant it, lol. Last edited by Ric83; 10-17-2005 at 12:19 PM. |

I did nothing truck related unfortunately... I delivered a customer car ('56) to the body shop for some final finish work, then went and picked up my dad's '56 from storage and brought it home until it goes back to the chassis shop (hopefully this week) for more cage and frame updates. (going from a car built for 700 hp to a car built for 1500 hp requires a few more bars ) On top of that I got my blazer detailed and to it's new owner, went to my Godson's 1st birthday party, and hung out with my dad in the hospital (he just had a radical nephrectomy wed.) Here's the customer car after I cleaned it up a little to deliver to the body shop...

Re: What did you get done?
Got the correct brackets for my seat, used the suburban brackets to break the last peices of glass out of an F150 a customer got for the powertrain. My butt and back are happy now that theres some lean towards the back instead of the front.
Spend the rest of saturday finishing the boxing job the LCA's and PHRB on my Firebird, nice and tight now. Then found out a TGO board member died in a car accident, real nice guy I'll miss him. Then today found out a friend should play the lottery. He crashed his motorcycle 80MPH up on a mountain road, and flew down the embankment, lucky SOB walked away. When the went to get his bike sunday afternoon, they found peices from 3 different motorcycles in the same spot. State trooper told them several people have died in the same spot.
