engine missing
Not all the time but about 50% of the time while driving my engine has a slight miss. I have changed the plugs, wires, fresh gas and the problem is still there. Like I said it is not all the time.. This truck sat for about a year intill i bought it and had some pretty bad gas in it. I've gone through about 3-tanks now and it's still there. Also the truck does have a hei if that helps. Any pointers would be great.. Thanks..

Re: engine missing
Fuel filters replace with new ones , Pour some denatured alchol in the fuel tank to help get rid of Moisture. Done any thing to the carb? Check or replace Vacume hoses under the hood for cracks disconnected .

I saw that you changed plugs and wires, did you change the cap and rotor? There is one other thing in an HEI that needs attention, there are bushings that the weights ride on and they wear out allowing slop which can lead to eradic idle and or a missing condition at a sustained rpm, ie when running down the road at a given speed for an extended period of time. Good luck. |

Re: engine missing
Definitley check voltage to the dizzy if its HEI. Also, get it hot then pop the hood and check the plug wires on a dark night. I was surprised how many stray sparks I had with a new set of wires.
