Re: trans engine wll they fit?

It should bolt up fine but you will need to change every thing from the crankshaft back so the clutch and pressure plate will bolt up. The flywheel for a standard shift is much thicker and heavier than the flexplate for an automatic trans. this would be a good time to install all new parts if there are many miles on the old clutch. The flywheel may need resurfacing too so maybe a complete package is in order. Don't forget the pilot bearing in the end of the crank or you will have vibration problems.
Hei swaps are simple even though so many ppl seem to have a hard time doing it. This is one of the better upgrades you can do and if you follow the steps outlined many times here in the forums you will have no trouble. Another easy upgrade is to an internal regulated alternator. Good luck and welcome to the boards.

If your already running a small block, you should be able to throw the 350 in there an use the stuff you already have. Check the FAQ page for lots of threads on the HEI swap.

EVERYTHING WILL FIT. 305s, 307s & 350s ALL SHARE THE SAME SIZE BLOCK ON THE OUTSIDE. THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS IN THE BORE & STROKE. JOHN

One further, all chevrolet corporate blocks use identical trans bellhousing. 283,302, 305, 307, 327, 350, 400, 396, 400, 402, 454, 502, 572. whew, did I miss any? These will all bolt in place of any of the other, just use the parts from the 307 (flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, etc) like in the above post and all will go well. I just purchased a RAM oe replacement 11" clutch from SUMMIT for like $160 and while you have it out and apart now if the time to do it so you do not have to redo this in a month.
