Window regulators: Power Vs Manual

I'm looking to covert my 88 Sub to power windows. The regulators are scarce as hens teeth unless you buy from a supplier. I was pondering converting the old manual regulators to power via removing the manual crank and fashioning a bracket to hold the motor. Has anyone ever heard of this done or tried?
It would be easier if I had at least one OEM power regulator to compare with the manuals I have.
