can anyone give me any help on what types of wood can be used for my truck bed,
I know oak and pine are the two most popular choices ,but if there are any other good choices I would like to know.
I am thinking about Birch as I can get this very cheap.

The durability and long life of your bed wood floor is much more dependent on the finish system used than on the kind of wood. Most cabinet and furniture wood types will not last very long if they are not carefully finished with proper methods. Although we have not made bedwood of birch, I believe that with careful selection and construction, as well as use of proper finishes, you would have good results.

We have a bedwood finish test in progress since this past summer. http://www.mar-k.com/wood_finish_testing_ii.html There have been no failures since July, and we believe some of these methods will provide excellent results for most bed wood applications. Stay tuned as we provide updates to this wood finish test.

hey i used beech, heres a pic and heres one of my buddies truck with white oak.

I used hickory in my stepside
Very durable and holds finish well!

wow those are some nice looking beds

Birch is a good looking hard wood ,so i am sure it would look great and stand up

My dad used ash in his 53. Stuff's hard as a rock, very durable. I heard that Cypress is excellent wood. It's very hard, holds a finish well, has a great looking grain, and your truck will rot before it does since it grows in water.
