TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

Not sure how many of you have read or seen the write up and pics on the project 67, but I just got my back issues sent from them, and WOW! what a kick a$$ ride that is going to be... dont really like the custom gauges/dash much though, but overall, very very nice. It started way back in 2003, and they will finish it up this December... quite the project.

THEY SUCK!!!! I bought a few and they went too bad, not as well put together as CCT and CT, but I figured I'll call to ask them a few questions, cause I wanted to know about subscriptions and articles and such and they treated me S**t.
They told me what the subscription price was and I about dropped a load right there!!! Thanks but NO thanks.

If I see it on the stand and it has something I'll find useful, I'll buy it, but other than that: "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord Split cha"!!

Re: TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

I had a years subscription and I let it run out. The articles weren't as usefull as CT's are. They seem to gloss over the 67' project in a lot of areas. I find way more usefull info here.

How many of us have the $$$ to build a truck like the TB truck,Stacy Davids, Foose etc and so on. I'm not bashin' but when you call Holley, CPC, hey Vic send me a crate over. Is that really buildin' or addin' parts. Show how to work a door, weld trim holes, take a 350 and build from the crank up. Thats buildin' !!!!!!

Re: TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

I agree with Weasel. The Overhaulin show discusts me. They take a project from some young guy, that he probably had some dream future/project of his own, and create this thing that, in most cases, doesn't even resemble the idea of the car they began with. They < or one of these shows, took a very wonderful looking 57 truck and hacked it, made it into a convertible with 57 sedan grille and fins or something to that affect , pimped out the interior and gave it to the guy!!

Myself, I would be lookin' for a big stick,or what they say in this day and age::: call my lawyer!!!!!

Can you imagine what it would do to you to come home from work one day, excited about pluggin further ahead on your project and it is discovered vanished/gone/stolen. It would probably put me in the hospital or Jail....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This stuff reminds me when I gave up reading the 4x4 mags back in the Jeep day:: they did a weekend work only on a working man's budget( theur idea of this budget was around 200 k per year) and the guy could then drive it to work on monday. 1st week new suspension,2nd weekend auto tranny with trick shift set up,3rd weekend new gears in transfer,4th weekend new Currie axles with Summers brothers axles, on and on we go!!!!!!!!!!
The truck mags all seem to be geared custom anyway.

Re: TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

Foose can come get mine too. I'd rather watch Foose on TV doing something to an automobile than another episode of Star Trek (IMO)
These shows an mags have budgets too and I know, they suck when it comes to details and a realistic working man's budget BUT I still would rather watch or read this kind of stuff vs. the alternative.

I read the articles in the mags, watch the shows on tv, but when I want to know how to do something to my truck I come right here to the best truck site on the web.

Re: TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

I have to say I like the build ups on the TV shows and in the Mags. Are the result realalistic? Probaly not but they have things in every build that someone might really want to do these builds give people Ideas. I know I have seen some really nice stuff and becuase of that I am going in a completely diffrent direction with my truck now. Not so much as for restoring it but for some of the upgrades out there I didn't know about like GV over/under dirve I have one now and are going to put it in when I get to that point. So in conclusion the Builds might be out of a normal persons budget but part of those builds can help someone.

The thing about FOOSE that amazes me are his rendering drawings of
what it will look like when he's done, I wish he'd just do me a drawing
and then I could figure out how to get there from here, the guy rocks.

Re: TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

I met Foose's former boss (Boyd Coddington), now that guy is good. He builds high dollar shiz, but it looks good too. You can look at some of Boyd's stuff and it looks more or less stock untill you open the hood, sit in the drivers seat, etc. I like Foose, but take it easy with the multi color paint and graphics I am getting dizzy just looking at the paint?!

Re: TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

I wondered when a thread on the topic of custom builders was going to come up...

As far as BoydC is concerned, I think the guy makes himself look like a raging tyrant on his show. Some of that might be "fake reality" to generate ratings, but it doesn't work for me. I just watch it from the Tivo with the sound off and fast forward through the screaming, crying, not building the car, parts of the show.

I also watch Trucks and Xtreme 4x4. I like those shows, but I amused by how much stuff they order already built, like kick butt axles ready to just bolt in! Like most poeple can just call Currie or whomever and just drop 5k on custom axles, not likely! Although both of those programs do show lots of helpful hints. And the gal on Xtreme can weld .

Chip would be glad to do a set of renderings for you....$$$$$$

Not only is he good, he is fast. My buddy Rodney from Total Kaos graphics knows him and he is amazed at how quick he can crank out a drawing....

Re: TRUCK BUILDER MAG'S Project 67

Boyd Rocks!!!! The only show that impresses me more and remains top standing over any Boyd stuff ever that they did as far as I watched him anyway is the old guy on Jesse's show that chomped the ceegars and was hunched over ,looked like the old fart that runs the nuke plant on SIMPSONS and leaded in this chopped, channeled 50 something chevy that was so COOL!!!!!!! He melted lead and smoked ceegar at same time while lead fumes rolledup and around his face, oh so unsafe and awesome!!!!!!!

Boyd deserves to act as he wants. He owns the shop for cryin' out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
