Help w/ HD wheels

I just bought a set of HD wheels. These wheels are 8 lug and fit very nicely. However, my C20 has drums all the way around, and I'm a little worried that the studs aren't long enough for the HD lugs to snug the wheels properly.

Does anyone have experience with these rims?

Should I convert to longer studs? Or use a longer lug ( I don't remember what the called but for some reason long shank is in my head)?

Thank you for any help and input.

Re: Help w/ HD wheels

Aren`t you studs 1/2" vs 9/16" or 14mm that these rims take.I know the dual wheel drum brake trucks were.Maybe you`re ok(9/16).Are you saying they`re too short from the thickness of the HD wheels?I`m assuming they are aluminum.Longer lugs won`t help.Sounds like you need 32 longer studs. Not a bad thing after all these years.I just put all new studs in my Highlander(new rotors & drums).

Re: Help w/ HD wheels

The lugs that came with the HDs are not snugging the wheel properly, leaving about a 1/4 of thread remaining. The stock lugs thread snug all the way through, BUT the boxed ends begin to cut into the wheel and the wheel feels very loose and wobbley.

I'm just trying to get this wheel combination road ready. Certainly don't want anything sheering off!

Re: Help w/ HD wheels

if you have drums you should have 1/2 studs i have an 85 i run hd caps on and the new style lugnut is 14mm 1.5 You can buy a special lug nut off ebay for 9/16 or 1/2 with the threads on the outside for holding on the caps but there kinda pricy last time i checked it would be about 60 shipped.
