72 Nova 350 to 72 truck swap
I recently purchased a 72 short bed 2wd that originally had a 6 cyl. The previous owner swapped a 350 from a 72 nova into the truck. My problem is the 2 barrel carb is gone and I need another. After looking at various part sites on the net i realize the carbs are different from the nova to the truck. I was wondering what other difference there are between the 350 that came in the nova and the 350 that came in the truck. Also what carbs will bolt to the stock intake if i decide to try the after market.
My intension for this truck is to keep 350 with the 2 barrel for awhile till i get everything else done on the truck (which could be a long time). So getting a cheap carb that would serve the purpose is what i am looking for. One last thing i want to do the HEI swap on the distributer what junkyard parts are the best to ask for to get the parts? Any thing to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. |

Re: 72 Nova 350 to 72 truck swap
Any small or big block HEI will work just fine, I've got two here in rebuildable conditon. If you want one dirt cheap shoot me a private message.
As far as the carb goes, you'd really be giving that engine the ability to perform if you upgraded to a 4 barrel carb. 4 barrel intakes, and quadrajet intakes are widely available, and any from a small block chevy up to 87 will bolt right up.

Re: 72 Nova 350 to 72 truck swap
Looks like the previous owner used the 6 cyl frame stands. I would like to get a set of small block stands to move the motor forward. Anyone got a set? If not where is the best place to find them?
One more question am i going to run into a problem with the rear tranny mount if I switch to the small block frame stands? Thanks for the help. |

Dizzy's for SBC's and BBC's are identical. They are interchangeable. I have a set of SBC towers and mounts laying around from my old small block, before I went BBC. They mounts arent bad... but they should probably be replaced anyway to avoid headaches later. Especially if you plan on doing anything to the motor. Shoot me a PM if you're interested
