Progress Pics

Updated on 7/23/06. See new pics in thread!

Well, it's still sitting cali-style until hopefully this weekend. I got to roll it out of the garage and snap a couple of pics after Wilma came through. She brought nice cold weather though! Got some new 2ga battery cables wired, installed my new battery tray, re-connected my toggle switch for the heater fan (PO b.s. rig-job - it's temporary) and cleaned out a bushel's worth of leaves from the blower ducts.
Ordered up my rear wheel spacers (check 2nd pic & you'll see why) and need to find a shop that sells a pickle-fork I can stick in my air hammer. Then it's off to coil-ville and bringin the front down to where she needs to be. Oh, here's the pics:

Re: Progress Pics

Nice.
I just noticed the tailgate treatment? Doing a roll pan or was the rear bumper always gone?

Thanks! I'll get some real good ones after I get the front down. Funny thing was there was a lot of skepticism about putting those wheels on there before they were mounted. I think they look real good, and original.

Joe, I've got a brand spankin new CC roll pan sittin' in the garage, just haven't gotten around to getting it welded up yet. I've been so busy working on other parts of the truck. And I'm searching for another tailgate as well. Bought a repro gate from a board member here and he shipped it with NO packing, just slipped it in the box and sent it UPS. So I got it with 4 f'ing dents in it. I'll be the better man and not throw his name out, but he knows i'm pissed and he never offered to do anything about it.

Re: Progress Pics

Well, I sold my CC roll pan to Grendel, and bought a rear bumper, brackets, and plate pan from Mothertruckers. VERY good guys to deal with. I am extremely pleased with them and will be going back for more stuff. Thanks Ed!! Will get some pics up so you guys can see how it looks. Then I need to pick up my new OE tailgate after it's been freshly shaved and painted. YEEHAW!!!

What is the back spacing on the rear wheels? What size spacer did you order?

5.25" backspacing front & rear. Out back I'm running 1-1/2" spacers. The wheels are 20x8.5". Hope that helps you out!

Beautiful! It's nice to see a '67-'68 with the original emblems and lower trim. Not many out there with it.

Re: Progress Pics

Why did the rear wheels sit so far in. Did you replace the rearend or was that the only standard backspacing for the wheels you purchased?

I can relate to that. My 71 will be wearing a 67 clip when reassembled, and of course it will be red!

Re: Progress Pics

Thanks for the compliments guys! Now someone buy my '03 Silvy so I can get this thing in paint!! I'm going 2-tone same color red, but over silver, with some kind of thin stripe to break up the 2 colors. My gate is almost done and I'll be picking it up next Saturday. Shaved all the trim holes, but decided to leave the tailgate handle in place. I'll get updated pics of the rear end as soon as I get it on. May get the chrome Chevrolet letter inserts, but still undecided as of yet.
