Has anyone ever disassembled the heater (non AC) control.?

I am trying to take apart the heater control unit, to sand blast the parts and maybe recrome the unit. How do I get the knobs of the levers, so I can get the levers out. I have also see replacement face plates, who sells them. pic would be great. Thanks

If I remember correctly they are just pressed on ......you should be able to just work them off....gently and they come off.....there are no hidden screws or anything like that.....good luck

Well, I gently pulled on the knobs with some plyers, but they did not budge. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Has anyone ever disassembled the heater (non AC) control.?

I`ve done a few, and just had some new face plates made up.I didn`t like the ones that come in the rebuild kits. I never have any luck getting the knobs off the levers without breaking them, so i just crush the knob with plyers to get it to come off easily. than go to the pull a part and get the knobs off of a early van (they look the same and come off a lot easier) I`m going to try to redo a couple heater controls this weekend. I can take a few pic`s if your interested. Woody

The rebuild kit includes new levers, knobs, and faceplate. There's no need to fool with removing the knobs if you use the kit. Any vendor will sell the kit.
