tilt the front seat
How do you get the back of the front seat to swing forward (if I wanted to get to the gas tank or the jack back there?) Do I have to just slide the seat the 4 inches forward that it will go, and try to make that work? It looks like the seat is just one big hinge, but I can't find a 'release' anywhere.....could this just be yet another option my truck didn't come with?

Re: tilt the front seat
Most trucks did not have fold down seats. My bench seat and my buckets are rigid.

Re: tilt the front seat
I had a 67 bench that folded forward. I now have a bench in it out of a 72 that is rigid, the material from the top of the seat wraps around the side to under the seat where the hindge would be. Maybe if it was cut it could swing forward???? Always kinda wondered this myself.

Re: tilt the front seat
I had 72 bench that was hinged and then had it upholstered and he put a second bolt in the bracket and it is no longer hinged.

Re: tilt the front seat
Yes, you're going to have to take a bolt out, I can't remember exactly which one but I know is one on the lower part of the bracket.

Re: tilt the front seat
I thought the folding seats were optional. Mine's solid.

Re: tilt the front seat
If you take the bolt out for it to hinge, it won't have a latch will it? So you just do that for access, then put the bolt back in before driving? Do you have to remove a bolt from each side?

Re: tilt the front seat
I always wondered about that too. My '67 is hinged, but my '70 is rigid...

Re: tilt the front seat
I think it has to do with the type of upholstery and the year.. Later models the covering on the back of the bench seat coverd the metal attatchment arm portion. In my '67 I just took the nuts off on each side. Kinda gotta Reef on it to fold it forward cause the bolts bind. It isn't gonna be floppin around if your sitting on it so I'm not worried about a latch

Re: tilt the front seat
here are pics of the 2 different types of seat coverings
The first one the upholstry has no covering flap over the 2 screws so just remove the back screw and it will titl the secdond pic shows the other style with the flap at the hinge. I suppose you could still remove the back screw for tilt but it will wear and stretch on that flap
