67-72 C-notch kit

Has any one ever used or install a bolt in rear c-notch kit in there truck ? I am thinking about droping my truck. And maybe using one of the kits. If you ask the supplier there going to say install one will be stronger then orginal. But I was wondering how strong they really are. Its not that I plan on carring a lot of weight. But I do sometimes trailer buildable old cars and trucks. Mostlikey I will go with 2600# air bags. Any of you used a c-notch kit and trailer heavy stuff with your truck ?

Re: 67-72 C-notch kit

I know a properly installed weld-in is mighty strong from personal experience. We installed a few at a shop I used to work at in the Gay Area. We had a slammed 55' GMC we used to tow with all the time and no problems with the C-Notch. I imagine a bolt in job would be ok for pulling. If it were me though, while I had the bed off I'd bring the truck by a welding or muffler shop and have them lay some stiches on there with the wire gun. Just my .02

Re: 67-72 C-notch kit

I have a C notch kit in my truck. It makes the ride more nice. I was always having problems of bottoming out so it was what I needed. It is a pretty solid kit and easy to put in if you have a good cut off wheel.

I had a Western Chassis bolt in "C" Notch on my F150 (I know, I know...It WAS a cool truck while I had it though). I had no problems at all with hauling whatever I needed. I once picked up half a bed of 12" ceramic tiles that brought it WAY down, so much so that the driveline would bottom out on small dips in the road. No problems with the "C" Notch though. If it is properly installed you should have no problems at all.

I currently have the Western Chassis weld in "C" Notches that I have yet to weld in place. My Brother has installed his though and he loves them.
