I like the hard composite ones that come with the NAPA filters, reusable and never had a problem with leakage.

I agree with Longhorn Man and as long as you have a good, clean, straight pan, no "pookey" nesessary, as with good gaskets in any application.

Rubber and definately use no sealant. Thing with the rubber though is to make sure you don't overtorque the bolts. I use only the rubber ones at work never have any problems. I hate scrapin the cork ones off!!

I think it's Purolator that has the gasket with about 4 undersized holes so you can stick the bolts through & hold it in position.

I think you can get a rubber one with metal spacers molded into the bolt holes, so you just tighten the bolts till they are tight against the spacers. Very nice gaskets, I love them, gettin a pan that is not chrome will help too.

Re: Cork or rubber gasket for transmission pan?
One question and so many different answers. I think Longhorn Man has the one I would use. I just take it in and tell them to change the fuid and filter. Never have thought about which type of gasket they use. But now I am. As long as the gasket does not leak that was all I cared about. Besides, if it did I would just take it back. I use to do this myself but now it is too much of a pain to get rid of the old oil.

Re: Cork or rubber gasket for transmission pan?
I have had better luck with my aftermarket aluminum that I ever did with a factory pan.

Re: Cork or rubber gasket for transmission pan?
It's a cast aluminum after market pan. The cork gasket leaked so I replaced it with a rubber gasket, problem solved, no more leaks. Thanks for the input.
