Question Another clutch/header question - Please help

FYI: I did do a search on this site and I know this has been discussed, but I am can't find a solution for this specific problem so here I go:

I am putting a 1975 vintage 350 in my 67 C10 attached to the original 3-speed transmission in the 6-cylinder position. I put on Headman Headers (#69090) but my clutch linkage does not clear. I put a ball stud in the block, right below the dipstick and it lined right up with the original 6cylinder frame bracket and cross bar. Now that everything is hooked up, when I press the clutch the bar from the pedal and the upper arm on the cross shaft hits the pipes.
I thought these were the headers that were supposed to work for this set up.
Do I need to modify my linkage parts as well? If so, how?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I'll buy the next round, again.
Thanks.

How far in does the clutch linkage hit?

I had the same problem, and I chose to heat and bend the pipes to avoid them contacting. Mine only needed to be bent about 1/4 inch to clear it, but I had stock 350 & 4 spd with a modified clutch linkage that the dealer had done for some reason.

I have Heddman hedders on my '71 4x4 Jimmy w/350. I had a machinist joggle the ears on the Z-bar so the clutch rod would miss the collector.
Hope this helps.

You are going to have to modify the linkage, bell crank, and the headers to get it to clear. The correct Heddman part number is 69092 for standard tranny application. Their footnotes tell you that the 69090 may have problems with clutch linkage.

Thanks for the advice. I guess its time to take things apart again. Boy was that cross shaft a bugger to get in. We had to raise the left side of the engine to slip on the block ball stud end, then lower it back.

I sent an email to Headman about the headers and will see if they answer. From my reading of the footnotes it says to use the other part number when the linkage is behind the rear exhaust port, not in front like mine.
Well it's torch time this weekend for me.

I'll try to post some pics of my truck later. This is turning into the most expensive "free" truck ever.
Thanks again.
