Stupid Alternator Question

Ok long story short I need to know where to hook up the pigtail wires in a 72 with a small block. I had been running a one wire alternator straight to the batttery so I have no idea what to do with the red and white pigtail wires on the new alternator. Thanks in advance for your imput.

Re: Stupid Alternator Question

The red wire will loop over the batt post on the alt and the white wire should hook up to the original brown wire that went to the voltage regulator

Re: Stupid Alternator Question

Thanks kwmech I been going nuts with a multi meter trying to figure that one out. I think its about time for a painless kit. 30 some odd years of other peoples white trash engineering the electrical stuff is starting to take its toll on the truck.
