Blazer gas tank dimensions?

I have a 64 pickup that I am moving the gas tank from behind the seats to under the bed. I think a early Blazer tank will fit, but would like some better dimensions to see if I need to cut the frame or crossmembers. Everyone I have called with the tanks has no idea if the dimensions are the tank, or the tank including the flanges

Could you help a guy out and take a tape measure to your tank? Wondering what the size of a 20-21 gallon tank is. With or without the flanges.

Thanks in advance,

Keith

Re: Blazer gas tank dimensions?

The LMC catalog says the blazer and burb tank is 21 gallons and is 13"H x19"W x 30"L. $200.

My 71 is lowered so this tank would not fit. I ended up getting a stainless one custom made for $300 CDN. If I remember right it is sloped from 7"H at the back to 9" H by the diff x 27"W x 29"L. There was a rod shop in the area selling a steel tank with the exact measurements for lowered trucks for almost $600.

Good luck.

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi. PM Palf70step, I believe he just did this swap and may know the numbers you need.

Yup, that is the one I'm looking at. I have 27.5" between framerails, but if the 30" includes the flanges, I can bend them down and have them inside the channel of the rail. If not, I gotta get busy with a sawzall.
I have considered custom tanks, but the Blazer tank looks a lot more budget friendly.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I measured my tank, which I am assuming is a stock tank and here is what I saw.
The length of the tank is approx. 26" with an approx. 2" flange on each side to make 30" total.
Not sure if bending them will affect the integrity of the tank or not.

Re: Blazer gas tank dimensions?

Thanks!!! That flange and tank dimension is just what I needed. Looks like I will be able to put one under the bed of my truck pretty easy. I found a shop that has the tank, straps and 30 ohm sending unit I need for a real good price.

Thanks for taking the time to check on that for me, these forums are a great source of info.
