'71 Shortfleet Rear Ended

I finally got the truck I always wanted and got rearended by some chick on her cell phone. And she's insured by Mercury so you know that they're going to want to total it. NOT HAPPENING.
But I will need a straight tail gate and I think that I can get away with a right bed side. A bumper with brackets too would be cool.

Re: '71 Shortfleet Rear Ended

If it was my truck, I would fight the insurance co. The insurance companys are a big rip off anyway. Sure, they would love to go by the blue book on your truck. They always try to get by as cheap and they can. At least she did have insurance.

Any near Simi Valley, Ca. ?

Piss on it, let them total it and buy it back. I had a carb fire in my Camaro and the insurance wanted to total it so I said OK how Much, after some bickering they totalled it for 9 grand and I bought it back for $600. I replaced the fiberglass hood and cleaned the carb and drove it for years. Totalled is not a "BAD" thing, just make sure you get every cent for it then buy it back (they have to offer to sell to you first). They call some wrecking yards and get a ballpark of what they might get in an insurance auction then that is what you pay, and this is where you want someone to lowball you cause it saves you money. A salvage title is nothing especially if you plan to keep and drive. You'll have a pocket full of cash to fix it and it is still yours. just my .02 cents but it will work and you'll be far ahead. Stick it to the man!!
