4x4 Front leaf springs

Can I use a set of 73-88 chevy front leaf springs on my 72 project. They are 8'' front springs but it pushes the shackle way back and I am wondering if it will off center my axle in the fender well?? dont really want to buy new ones since these are almost brand new??

Any help guys?

thanks

Measure from eye to eye on both springs and see if they are the same. If it appears to push the shackle back, then it is probably too long.

Re: 4x4 Front leaf springs

The are too long unless you move your front hanger or relocate your rear shackles. A pair were on my 70 K5 when I bought it and the rear of the spring almost touched the frame.

Re: 4x4 Front leaf springs

73 and newer springs are 3" longer than the 72 and earlier, irregardless of the lift, they are still made to span and hold a certain length.

What we are saying is,yes they`ll work. But,not a bolt-in.You need to relocate the mounts.Three choices:move perches forward, move shackles back(better, but will give a little more height),or move both.It depends on where it lines up best.

Re: 4x4 Front leaf springs

OR, have a spring shop cut and re-roll the ends of those leaf springs to the correct length.
