Question Problems with Balancer & Crank Please Help.

I recently went and bought a 72 cheyenne to add to my too many collection,
and on the 4hr trip back, the truck threw the belts and started to over heat..
I caught it in time and pulled over...
upon inspection I noticed the balancer laying on the front sway bar and leaned up against the bottom core support.
The journal on the balancer in split and cracked, (No Big deal I have two or three laying around to replace it)
But the key way on the crank is no longer and the journal of the crank is marred pretty good..
Please tell me if there is a way to repair this, even if its just a temporary fix, without having to R&R the crank...
Have any of you ever been faced with this and have any suggestions.
I thought about welding the balancer to the crank, but the inner part of the balancer is cast, so that would be very tough to do and not a good fix..
Seems Ive heard of a balancer repair kit???
Please help your fellow 67-72 restorer..

Sounds like you need to repair the key way.

I've done it with a file, build a depression into the crank and use a separate key that fits both the new depression in the crank and the keyway in the balancer. I've also used JB weld to hold the key into both keyways.
