Re: What is your favorite year
'72 shortbeds followed by '67-'68 shortbeds. The '69-'70 trucks still look good, just my least favorite. I like the shortbeds the best, I had one longbed and wished it was a shorty the whole time I owned it.

Re: What is your favorite year
67 then 68 then 69/70 for me. I like the 67/68 grille and hood, the 67 due to the lack of side markers (has to be the big window though). I used to HATE the grille on the 69/70.....until I got one . If the grilles are nicely polished and the trucks are a clean shortbed, that's hot. The old dingy, dirty, oxodized grilles look horrible....but I guess any year looks bad with an oxodized grille.

'69...cause that's what I got...lol No, actually, that's what my dad had and all five of us boys had as our first truck. Just sentimental, I guess. This is my fourth '69. I'va had 3 steps and one fleet...all SWB.

Re: What is your favorite year
Honestly, I like the 67-72 GMCs a little better. I used to hate the GMC's looks, but then they grew on to me. And yes, I think a 68 GMC is a little prettier than a 68 Chevy. But, if i had to choose between a Chevy or GMC, I think it would end up being an emotional breakdown with tears

Re: What is your favorite year
I think the small window 67 is the most unique, no side markers (factory shaved), like the 67-68 hood and grill better too. Better if on a 71-72 frame with 5 lug and disks or converted to that. I have a 68 and a 70 too, the 70 is nice but if someone would trade me a 68 front clip in like condition for the 70 I would do it now before I paint it.

Re: What is your favorite year
The only year I like a stepside bed on is a '67 with a small window, as long as the fender doesn't have a spare tire notch in it. I like wide beds with a big rear window. Step bed with small window. Wide bed with big window. The proportions just seem better.
Personally my favorite is '72 because of the disc brakes, moulded door panels, rear-view mirror on the windshield (doesn't vibrate), the woodgrain trim, and the aggressive looking grille. |

Re: What is your favorite year
68 lwb because thats what I have. I prefer the 67-68 front ends and I love the long bed, thats a real truck to me. The only problem is finding a rust free lwb fleetside bed I can afford and pick up

Re: What is your favorite year
You know I really thought all this time I was different than most guys because I always prefered the 72. Hmmm, guess not. It would be a 72 Short fleet if I had the money and room for anymore!

Re: What is your favorite year
68 Chevy; The cool grille, power steering frame, big glass, short or long fleet. But that 4 headlight GMC look is cool too...

Re: What is your favorite year
71 Chevy short fleet, I like the earlier trucks but like the grill in the 71's better also discs up front and the fleet side beds look so much better on these trucks than steps.

Re: What is your favorite year
72 short fleet in any 2 tone combo. Best grille, best door panels, and houndstooth buckets look great IMO.

Re: What is your favorite year
I personaly like long beds better. They look so much nicer slamed and wih some wide back tires. I like the 67 small window alot. But out of the front ends I prefer the 69-70 but maybe with a little more slant to the hood.

Re: What is your favorite year
Well, to me all the cabs and beds are the same. I like the slant on the 67-8 fenders and hood.
So I'll have a 71 cab and frame, a 69 SWB fleetside bed and a 68 front clip without the turn signals in the grill. A 72 front bumper with cleared out turn signals. I really like the 69-70 grill, but the 67-68 grill is really growing on me. |

Re: What is your favorite year
I like my 70....the first one of these trucks I saw was a 1971 gmc/chevy hybrid (gmc grille, chevy tailgate ) That started the love affair....I could care less about door panels and how it looks when its lowered....because my 4x4 is only going to get taller in future months ......as for bed length.....heavy duty long box baby! My truck was a farm truck all its life....no sense in taking it easy on her now!
