air cfm??

It's been a while. Like the new look of the site. Here's the question: I am getting an electric fan for the 67. I was wondering what the stock airflow cfm is so that I know I am getting enough that I don't kill the v8. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: air cfm??

I couldnt say what the airflow on the stock fan setup was. I run two 14" flex a lites, that are said to pull 1350 cfm ea, on a homemade shroud,4 row core, & painless wiring controls. The setup keeps my 383 cool in the 90 plus temps here in Illinois. L

Re: air cfm??

thanks longhorn. I was looking at one on e-bay that is a 16" that says it's 2750 cfm.....no shroud. Wonder if that will make a big difference over running a shroud?

Re: air cfm??

I dont think I would mount the fan to the radiator core , like the manufacturers suggest.....IMO, it will beat the he!! out of the core, & wear holes in the tubes after some time. I think a couple guys have mounted a 16" puller fan to the stock shroud(after trimming), & it worked fine for a mild sb daily driver. space may be a little tight tween the waterpump & the fan tho..... a sb in I 6 position will have more room . best of luck, L
