Weekend progress
Finally got some stuff done on the ole beast. I got my new LOKAR shifter in the truck along with my new "used" blue dash pad. Yes, there are two big extra holes in my floor. The smaller one in the side is from the old 3spd floor shift and the big one in the middle was from my last auto shifter that didn't work well. I have a high hump floor I might be installing later..... I didn't get my driverside seat tracks in time so I couldn't install my new bench seat. The blazer tank will have to wait until I pull the bed for paint. Here's a few pics of the ole girl.

I got a good lookin new "used" rearview mirror from somewhere too..... Now if only I had my own garage so I didn't have to drive 120 miles to work on my truck......

How, are you liken' your new shifter? I've had my heart set on a Lokar myself. Was curious how well it fit. Which extension did you use?

I love it. It was specifically designed for a 700R4. It shifts into every gear perfectly and has MANY different adjustability points. The one I have is the floor mount. I'm not sure on the height. I "think" it's the 16". I don't know if that is the distance from the floor to the top of the shifter, or the shifter length itself. My truck is 2 hours from here (I still live in an apartment so it's at a family members home) but I will be going back in 2 weeks. I can measure it then, but I'm pretty sure it's the 16".
It installed really easy. You just have to unbolt the stock tranny shift arm and put on the lokar one (it goes on upside down from the stock one, took me an hour of "why won't the thing shift" figure that out). Bolt the shifter to where you want in on the floor (mine is sligtly to the left so the rod didn't bind on the tranny) and run the adjustable threaded rod from the new tranny arm to the shift linkage. I cut about 2" off the rod. The really cool thing is that it locks in Park and Reverse (you have to push the button in.) You also have to push the button in to go from 3 to 2, 2 to 1. BUT the really cool thing is you can just push it up from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, and 3 to OD. YOu can also go from 3 to OD and back to 3 without pushing the button in. They are pricey, I was lucky to get a "used" one that looks brand new from a fellow board member for a good bit below LOKAR price. I believe I've read before that places like JEGs or SUMMIT have them for even less than that LOKAR price.
