Hello from KS! First post here...

Thought I'd say hello to everyone. This site has been a great help to me. I've been reading here (I read nearly every post before "search" finally showed up ) for nearly two months.
I'd been wanting a 73-87 for several years and had been looking hard for about 8 months when I stumbled onto this truck. It's an 85 swb, a/c cab, power windows & locks. It has a rebuilt 355sbc, rebuilt m22 muncie, 3.42 rear, longtube headers & dual 2.5" flowmaster exhaust, and edelbrock 1405 carb. The entire drivetrain has 6k miles on it. It was originally a 305/700r4. It's got a cam, but no idea what specs--can just barely tell it's there at 750rpm. I have all the receipts from the engine and transmission rebuild as well as many other parts the PO bought. The entire front brake system is new including master cylinder & lines. Since I bought it and with some help from this site I've done the following: All new e-brake parts, restored the rallye wheels, buffed the paint a bit, mostly new (junk yard) dash w/autometer gauges & aftermarket stereo/speakers, new waterpump, and did all the normal maintenance. I STOLE THIS TRUCK FOR $1500!!! I guess the guy must have been desperate for cash, as he only had it for 8 months. I've been daily-driving it since mid-september and I LOVE it!! Here's a few pics, hope they work.

Re: Hello from KS! First post here...

no kidding, i guess patience is a virtue, i looked around for about 3 months and finally sunk $800 into an 83 SWB with a caved in cab and lots of work to do, i've put about $5000 in the motor and tranny and other various parts, but as ugly as it is, i luv it. My favorite is the look i get when i get in the multi-colored frankenstein truck and see the look on their face when that sbc fires up through the true dual 40Series flowmasters...priceless.

Re: Hello from KS! First post here...

Thanks for all the compliments guys. The pics make her look a little better than in person. There's the few typical cancer spots behind the rear fenderwells and on the rockers/cab corners. It's mostly on the surface, but there is pea-size hole right by the passenger door handle. The paint is starting to peel on the front of the hood too. Stupid GM water based paint. As far as plans for the truck, it's going to be my daily driver for awhile. Hopefully the mean @ss kansas winter won't be too rough on her! I think I'll probably do a 2/4 or 3/5 drop, can't decide which. My camaro has about 3" of ground clearance, so I kinda liked being able to work under the truck without jacking her up.....but they look soooo sick lowered! I've still got some things to finish up on the camaro over the winter, but this spring is going to bring some truck fever for sure
