rear disc brakes

I am trying to put rear disc brakes on my truck using cadillac rear calipers. What model can I get the rotors off of that will work with my truck? I need it to be 5 lug.

Re: rear disc brakes

am a six lugger myself -- but I would guess an 87 1/2 ton front rotor light duty may be a start. It is 1 inch thick. Do the eldorado calipers take 1" or 1.25" rotors?

Re: rear disc brakes

I used the whole disc rearend from a 1979 fleetwood under my 69. It had to have some modifications but it is a five lug with the same bolt pattern as a pickup.

I was looking for some one who had a bracket to use the 94-96 Impala SS (or 9C1 police package) rear disc setup. I saw a board member use it on their truck but cant seem to find out any info.

Your link to www.blackbirdscustomtrucks.com doesn't specify what parts are used to make the kit. (rotors from what? Calipers from what?)

Re: rear disc brakes

Yeah we are pretty sneaky that way....

I'm kidding... We don't specify what rotors we use with each individual kits is for a good reason. We like to have a business. When a customer buys a kit from us is the only time we tell them what rotor to use when its time for them to change them out. I hope you understand.

The calipers are all over the internet for what people use. either the e-brake caddy calipers or the smaller s-10 calipers. I can't give you an exact to what smaller e-brake caliper we use. I can get back to you with that.

As for brackets Sorry we don't just sell them by themselves.

If you look on pirates.com some uys have cad drawings of brackets they have used.
Did you look in the FAQ part of the board. It is filled with good info. The brakes might be in there. i'll do search to to see if i can help you out.

Re: rear disc brakes

94-96 capric SS rotors will work. you will likely have to make sure everything is completely rust free as it's a tight fit but it will work.

Does this year Impala/Caprice setup have an e-brake? It sounds like an interesting option if it does.

Re: rear disc brakes

It does have an e-brake built in. The bolt patter is 5x5. I have a set of Impala SS wheels on my truck now.... I'm going to start a new thread on the Impala SS rear disc brakes as a question because I know I saw someone on the board did this... and they posted pics... but I can find it with the search feature...
