headers dont fit

I sold a 67 to my brother and he is trying to put headers on it. The ones he bought are hitting the frame and he doesn't want to cut or bang anything if possible. What headers will fit a 67 with a 283. I understand that the frame flanges are smaller starting in 68 but surely there are headers that will fit correctly.

Re: headers dont fit

edelbrock makes a set of shorty headers for the 283 that tuck up perfectly in a 1967 frame.

Re: headers dont fit

I played hell finding a pair to fit my BBC in a 67, Hooker was what I found to be the best fit and finish. Try them for a SBC in a 67 and they will fit. If not, get the torch out.

Re: headers dont fit

the flowtechs fit fine..hooker super comps work great also..the flowtechs are under a hundred bucks though...the hookers need to be for the 67...they make them for models to 67...then 68 and above

Re: headers dont fit

I got mine on the truck and put cherry bomb glass packs on it today. I still need to do the tailpipes. I will probably change to some type of turbo mufflers also. The glass packs really dont sound very good.

Re: headers dont fit

Welcome to the board plungerbunger. You got a good start on a truck. Glad the headers worked out. You must have picked it up that truck from a good source

Re: headers dont fit

I used 67 camaro headers on my 67 gmc. i had to trim the frame. You can do it with out being noticed if you take your time.
