Question Tilt steering column question

Most of my experience is with 1980 and older trucks. I acquired an original 1981 K10 project in a million pieces. I am nearly done putting this back together. Assembling the cab some of the trim looks like the older trucks, but some looks like the newer trucks. For example, the dash pad and the instrument cluster is the newer style. But, the bezel looks like the older trucks with the w/s wiper switch on the dash panel. The high beam switch is on the floor like the older trucks.

The tilt column in this truck looks like the older trucks too. Its been my experience that tilt column's were the same from 1973 through 1980. Did this style extend to 1983? Seems they changed in 1984 and were the same from 1984 to 1987. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Re: Tilt steering column question

Tilt column were the same from 1973-1983 and changed to 1984-1991 (R/V for 88-91) when the light switch moved to the turn signal stalk. The cluster behind the bezel is the same, but the actual bezel is slightly different. Dash is completely different and matches the bezel correctly.

Re: Tilt steering column question

Dash is 73-78, 79-80 and 81-91. The 73-80 dash structure is the same, but the 79-80 dash has an opening for the VIN mounted on the dash structure.

Re: Tilt steering column question

Also on 79-80 the bezel changed as well. The lower part has to be changed with the bezel to fit right.
