I have finally gotten some work done to my truck, frame rails blasted and primered along with the axles. Only 10,000,000 more pieces to go. What do ya think?

When you tear one down you don't do it halfway do ya?

Still not sure if it was a good idea to tear the frame down. Good idea...gets ALL the rust out, Bad idea.....gonna be a pain to get everything lined up and X'ed out right.

You didn't mention how your planning on putting the frame back together ( Bolts, rivets ). I just found a site that sells rivets & the tools to install them. Might want to check this site out. Big Flats Rivet Co.

I have gotten Button head bolts and flanged washers, 7/16 Dia is real tight in the holes should be a great fit.

Wow! I've heard of frame off restorations, but I think this is the first frame part restoration I have eveer seen. That's pretty cool. Are you going to paint the chasis black? Keep us posted.

I am painting the frame black. I am going to get all of the parts in primer them assemble, then the paint will go on. I'm sure it won't be quick but I know it'll be right. I'll post pics as I go. Thanks.

dont bolt that thing together being 4x4 it will flex and loosten, weld or rivet it,youl be checking for loose bolts every time you here a squeeeeeeeeeeek

Although I've never done it, I agree.

Even if you use bolts you still want to tack everything in place, at least enough to make a rigid box.

Rivets

The rivets cost about .50 cents ea. and the tool to fit into you air hammer is about $28, I figure you'll need about 100 rivets for the complete frame. With shipping it would be under $100. I think this would be a better way to go and heck GM put it together that way to begin with. Welding would be stronger if done right, but if your trying to restore it the rivets would look original.

I'd have to say that's the first time I've seen anyone disassemble their entire frame! Great work tho, should be beauty when reassembled!
