Loose steering wheel HELP?
When Im driving I can turn my wheel to side to side 5-10inches or so without the truck responding what causes this to happen. Is it an easy fix. Balance? Im clueless on the whole thing.

You can have someone look at the steering components while you turn the steering wheel back and forth, (you don't need to run the engine to check slack). Typical items where slop is likely include tie rod ends, drag link, rag joint and steering box but everything should be inspected.

have someone turn the steering wheel and keep an eye at the bottom of the steering gearbox on the frame. if they move the steering wheel, and you see no movement under the gearbox, get the gearbox rebuilt.

do you have manual steering? They seem to be 10 times sloppier than power assist.
if so, may be a good time to upgrade? |

I'm radical here, but I'd use that handy adjusting screw that is on there to attempt to remove the slack before I blindly replaced the gearbox.
Loosen lock nut, tighten screw some, tighten locknut. Price? Free.

Although I would also try that too.... there is no way that adjuster will get rid of 5 inches of play.
