ideas for license plate bracket on sport bumper?

i'm lookin for ideas on a license plate bracket for the sport style bumper for our trucks....its the "suburban style" rear bumper type

i remember someone awhile back said something like using one from a caprice or impalla SS or something like that , i'm wanting to (maybe if possible) get a flip down type for a hitch

any ideas?

armzz i think your home depot or lowes has a hinge type thing about 3 feet long my thoughts on this was to attempt to drill holes and bolt it to the plate and then (grind, scuff, scratch) what ever to the bumper where i want it and then weld the hing to the bumper and maybe have it rechromed at a shop here afterwards. this is just an idea that i had in my head nothing on paper or in hand to see if it will even work. but it is what i wanted to do also is hide the hitch like it says i think the hinge was in the door hardware area.

Armzz look at the 3rd gen F-bodies (Camaro/Firebird). They had a nice flip down frame that could be bolted right where you need it...

From what I can tell, they use a 'housing' that's very similar (if not the same) as the 67-72's sport bumper.

My 68 has a flip down kit from ECE or CCP (one of the two). I was going to use the style on my 74.

I put a late 70's/early 80's Impala flip down bracket on Yeller when I had the on/off switch mounted back there...worked great. Cost me $2 at my local salvage yard.

Not an Impala SS...just a regular 80's Implala/Caprice will have one. So will the 80's Cutlass', Regals, and Monte Carols. Basically any car with the gas filler behind the rear plate will have one.

The '96 SS Impala bracket worked great on my truck. It's one of the last GM cars with the gas filler behind the license plate and it's still available new from the dealer for less than $20.00. The mid eighties style bracket is discontinued.

The part number for the new Impala SS bracket is 14083879.

Figure your time, gas money, and whatever the used bracket costs at the junkyard and this looks like a no-brainer to me.

I had no clue the newer SS's had the gas door behind the plate...cool. I would get one of them too if I were you.

You can also use a Jeep wrangler one. They flip down for filler neck on side of the jeeps. Also I had a 79 camaro it too had a flip down.Any junk yard showed have tons of those body style camaros unless the dirt trackers have found them.
