Lost Key Foberthingamajigger HELP!
I lost my keys a couple days ago, which means I also lost my keyless entry fob to my 00 Z71. Of course, I didn't lose the 67's keys, which I have like 5 copies of I called our local Chevrolet dealer... 75 bucks plus 40 to reprogram it. That seems hella high. Has anyone else lost thier keys and had their fobby thing replaced cheaper? This is my first vehicle with keyless entry, and needless to say the 67 is gettin a kit when I get 'er going again, I've become spoiled. If not, I'm gonna have to wait till after x-mas to get a new remote entry. Thanks for any suggestions

Re: Lost Key Foberthingamajigger HELP!
I bought 2 extras off ebay for like 30 bux for my 2002. Reprograming is free and easy to do. Just a few steps like: pump brake twice, turn key to acc....etc..
It may be the same for 2000. I'll go grab the exact instructions out of my truck. Make sure you get the correct FOB for your year and make. |

Re: Lost Key Foberthingamajigger HELP!
Yes, you can get one off eBay fairly cheap and program it yourself. I recently bought a 2000 GMC which came with the key fob but it didn't work. I found programming instructions online......
Programming your key fob transmitters: This is the procedure to program the key fob door lock and panic button transmitters on your 1999+ Silverado & Sierra pickups. Note: You must program all of your key fob transmitters. Re-programming one will disable the others unless you do this to each. What to do: 1. Close all doors on the vehicle 2. Insert the ignition key 3. Press and hold the door unlock switch. While holding the switch, cycle the ignition key ON, OFF, ON & OFF 4. Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode 5. On the first key fob, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. Hold them for 15 seconds until the doors lock and unlock to confirm the programming of the transmitter 6. Repeat step 5 for each of your transmitters (up to four) 7. Turn the ignition to the RUN position to exit the programming mode 8. Operate each key fob to ensure they were programmed successfully

Re: Lost Key Foberthingamajigger HELP!
Thanks for the great info guys.
I have bid on a pair on EBAY for 25 bucks, the BIN price is 49.99, but hopefully I can get them for 25. GM wanted 70 just for one! If anyone else has this problem, make sure to call your local GM dealer because based on my VIN there were several different part numbers and supposedly only one of them will work.

Yep. Buy the proper fob type on ebay and reprogram them yourself
Jason - looks like you copied those instructions right from my webpage http://mywebpages.comcast.net/00gmc/transmitters.htm |

Re: Lost Key Foberthingamajigger HELP!
Hey fellers! I ordered new key fobbers off ebay (got 2 for 40 bucks). I had a problem with the USPS (they lost my package, and yes, they really did, the seller had a tracking number with my address on it) and the seller was nice and sent me a new set. I got them today and with y'all's awesome help, I had them programmed and working the first time!
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS!!!

Re: Lost Key Foberthingamajigger HELP!
You need to call GM and give them your vin Number and ask them what the part number is for your vehicle. I just called the service center at a local dealer and they told me. You need to be careful though, for my 2000 there were two different numbers and supposedly only one will work. I ordered mine through ebay seller KATMOORE. I was very happy with what I got. They have a very high + feedback. My keys were lost in the mail (seller produced receipt) and replaced them free of charge. I think I paid $45 for two of them. GM wanted $75 for one. Hope this helps.
