Question Attn Longhorn Man or Luv2xclr8 or ??

Dumb sounding question. Andy I have the same towbar you had and was wondering where you attached it when pulling our trucks. I may be needing mine this weekend. The last towbar I had/used was one that clamped onto the bumpers (1973 I think). It's not a long run, 120 miles, did you disconnect drive shaft or just leave it in neutral?

Thanks....Been a while since I did this.

I left mine in Nuetral for 6 hours, scary huh?, Andy's old towbar goes
in where the bottom two bumper bolts are in the center, the upper's
are held on by brackets, lowers go right into the frame rails, his also
had a very cool plug, I couldn't figure it out so I ran the flashers

Hmmm....Mine only has the lower bolt ons I guess. It didn't come with clamps, just chains.

I'll probably be doing the flasher thing too

No real clamps to speak of on this one either, just 2 bolted on brackets
through those 2 little holes in the frame, towbar is V shaped w/ pins

Sounds like same...It has to U shape brackets that bolt on to the car then the bar has pins that hook to them. It's a Reese model.

Yeppers, looks just like that pic what I meant by the uppers was don't use them,
use the lower bolt holes, the hitch I used only had one bolt per side, is that better.

Think so. Did you remove the bumper bolts or are you talking about the hole at the front of the frame horns? I haven't had a bumper in so long I forgot how they are hooked.

Re: Attn Longhorn Man or Luv2xclr8 or ??

If your bumper is worth having, you'll probably want to remove it. I damaged it on both of my trucks with that tow bar.
That looks like the same model as my old bar. When you bolt the brackets on the frame, you'll probably have to spread the bar a tad.
I always removed the drive shaft. Just unbolt it from the rear axle and strap it up out of the way. This way you don't drain the tranny. If it is a stick shift, just pop it in neutral, but you can damage an automatic by doing that.
These are the only two pics I can find.

If you have never used a tow bar, I highly recomend a large parking lot to learn in before hittin the freeway. It's plenty safe, just feels funny and the lack of brakes on that 2 ton trailer takes some getting used to.

Thanks Andy...That is what I thought. Yeah it's an automatic, but I was thinking lazy. Guess I'll be a good boy if it comes home with me. I've pulled with them before and trailors I know what you mean about the load. No freeway on the way home, just going through the country . I'd say hills, but we dn't have any down here.
