hyd clutch pedal assembly from late model chevy truck?

Have any of you installed a late model hydraulic clutch pedal assembly in any of your trucks. I have a nv 3500 for my 70 and I am going to a junkyard next week to try to find a pedal set to use or graft the hyd clutch part over to my original pedal assembly.

Does anyone know if a tri 5 (55,56,57) chevy pedal assembly will fit in our trucks or perhaps an impala (thinking about the fact that impala wheels are 5 on 5 like a truck wheel pattern).

thanks for your replies

Re: hyd clutch pedal assembly from late model chevy truck?

I am using a hydraulic clutch and hydroboost system from a 1989 1 ton (old body style) on my 69 K20. I looked at swapping the pedal assembly but that would have taken a lot of custom work and was very simple to just mount the pushrod to the existing pedal assembly. Here is a link to info on my install.

A 1989 can be a new body style or the old body style. The old body style is the one I had the master needs the shim. The new body style 89-up doesn't need that shim.

Board member Huck from KY was the first in this board to do this kind of swap, he did this a few years back and has since sold the truck I believe, I personally saw that truck when I first met him (sweet truck) and it was hard to see or know that the ol' truck he was driving had in fact a 5 speed tranny in there as he hid the hyd. clutch under the brake booster )I wouldn't had known if he hadn't said anything) you may want to send him a pm and ask about the particular setup he had in the truck back then.

BTW: Huck's truck was a 2wd if it matters any

Both the hydraulic clutch and hydroboost will work on a 2wd - the donor truck was a 2wd.

I need to get some pics of the bellhousing added to my link so people can see it also.

Re: hyd clutch pedal assembly from late model chevy truck?

I put an aftermarket Tilton Hydraulic clutch in mine. Looking good so far with the Richmond 6 speed....Truck is not done yet so I havnt tested it out. Very nice components though.....I had a 88 Chev, truck that had a hydraulic clutch that I could have modified something similar, But I wanted to run the Hydraulic Bearing not the Slave this time......It eliminates the pivot and arm as well. Looks real clean!!

Re: hyd clutch pedal assembly from late model chevy truck?

I'm about to install a NV4500/Twin stick np205 in my 67 and was going to use a hydrolic setup. This perticular one is a 99'+ bellhousing with the left side setup. Will an older Hydraboost work with my setup? Is it fairly simple to setup?

Re: hyd clutch pedal assembly from late model chevy truck?

I installed a 5 speed with hyd clutch setup out of a 96 1/2 ton chev truck. I installed the clutch master cylinder on the firewall behind the power booster--just more center to the body on the inside of the brake assembly. I used the stock original brake/clutch assembly and fabed a bracket to attach the clutch push rod to. This unit has the internal hyd throwout bearing. The unit worked well but needed a bit more pedal pressure then I would have liked. Also the aluminum transmission was designed for an electronic sensed speedo which I never addressed. All in all, it is a nice swap especially the OD 5th gear. In my experience, if a mechanical clutch will work, I would prefer avoiding hydraulics as they tend to be less forgiving---ie. leaks, bleeding, adjusting issues, etc. In one case, my clutch master cylinder let loose from the firewall and I had to drive the truck 40 miles shifting without the clutch--via rpms. Re: hyd clutch pedal assembly from late model chevy truck?

huck, what you done is basically what i am doing, except i do not have the luxry of a complete donor vehicle. i am piecing together stuff as i can and

i appreciate your response and information.
my particular nv3500 has a integral bellhousing, so that complicates things a little.
so based on your response you used your old original clutch/brake pedal assembly and adapted the hyd clutch to it. is that correct?
