there seems to be a direct relationship between my truck looking better and my wallet growing thinner.

new goodwrench crate is in and my new houndstooth seat cover is on. i purchased the seat cover through GMC PAULS and when having it installed by an upholstry shop the owner asked me where i had purchased it because he hadnt seen such a nice quality repro seat cover for a long time. not only was the quality great but i received the seat cover the very next day after i ordered it, it doesnt get better than that.

WOW! Maybe I should rethink my black int I am trying to do in the Longhorn.
Interesting mix of acc brackets your running there. Any rason for the mix and match? (just wondering)

im assuming your refering to the black alt bracket and polished power steering bracket. thats what the truck came with when i bought it, doesnt bother me since the engine compartment is far from show condition. maybe ill find a nice matching polished alt bracket one day when i get to detailing it under the hood, but for now the $$ is going on the outside and interior.

Well, actually I was refering to the fact that your alt *should* be on the passenger side, and your pump *should* bu mounted differant, and lower.
Not that it matters, i thought you might have done that yourself, alot of people prefer that alt bracket over the original, and the pump brackest are for a 68 and older if I am not mistaken.
Your set up kinda evens it out from left to right...
Just noticing things here.
BTW...awsome valve covers!

If you don't mind me asking, did the shop have to rebuild your seat (foam and springs) and, if so, what was the cost for the install? None of my business, but I'd like to have a shop put on my covers also and was wondering what a normal charge for this would be.

hymm never knew they were in the wrong places, the truck was originally a 6 cyl 3 on the tree, a 350/350 and auto tilt column had taken its place by the time i bought it. i doubt the truck had powersteering to begin with either, doesnt have power brakes, guages or a/c, a real base model 72 c10 short bed.

as for the valve covers, those were $60 at the pomona swap meet, i need to get the matching air cleaner off ebay now.

foam was all perfectly intact before i had it recoved. the springs on the driver side were trashed pretty bad. they charged me $100 to recover and fix the springs and ajustment lever etc. the seat feels alot firmer now, im thinking they may have thrown some extra foam on top of the orig foam? not sure though.

The extra firmness is that $100 missing from your wallet... your backside is now in more direct contact with the seat without all that paper padding the way

By any chance do you have 2 parallel black stripes down the middle of your truck? Seen a nice silver truck with those stripes cruising on the 405 fwy early in the morning northbound, wondering if this is you blowing by me with that big motor..........

haha blowing by! its a stock 350 i just put in, i dont blow by much. its got some power but not that fast. mine is plain silver, no stripes.

where do you live around? im in HB i drive down the 405 to the 55 every day for work.

When I got my new seat covers I was going to put them on myself, but then the paint and body guy's dog decided to make a bed in the old seat and tore out a bunch of foam. He paid for me to take it to an upholstery shop and have it repaired. They patched in new foam, fixed a couple of broken springs, and put on the new cover - all for $65!!. I cant' believe the difference the new foam and springs made - definitely worth the money.

I forgot all about teh stupid pump thing...I have the later style with my short pump...the last owner just bolted it to the water neck.
