repro door hinge quality

Looking for opinions on the repro door hinges, I think GMC Paul and others sell them... just wondering if I should buy these or rebuild a set of used ones...

thanks for any input.

Re: repro door hinge quality

I like to rebuild them myself. It's a fun easy project. Much cheaper too, I'm sure.

Re: repro door hinge quality

thanks for the reply... I've put new pins in them before, but my driver's upper hinge is completely shot, and I was hoping to hear from someone who's bought a repro hinge and could comment on the quality...

Would rather not scrounge in the yards for a hinge, so I thought a repro would be the way to go if the quality was decent...

but if someone has a good used upper driver's hinge requiring just pins, I'd consider that as well..

thanks.

Yep, in the HELP section (Motormite) at your local auto parts store. They com as a pin and bushing kit. I use later model kits and drill the holes out to fit the bushings if they are wallered out too much. Easy fix especially if the hinges are off the truck.

As far as repop hinges, if they are anything like the other repop parts I have looked at, it is well worth finding a decent set of used ones and repinning them. There is areason why Screamin' has all original parts on her except the tailgate.....Aftermarket is poor fit and poor quality.
