Ok this has probly been asked before. But what is the cheapest way to get 5 lug disk brakes and drop spindles for my truck? Its a 70 half ton 6 lug drum now.

get the spindles from an aftermarket company, and rip off the other parts from a 71-87(i think those years work), but then you have to deal with the rear being a 6 lug rear

Cheapest way is probably to get the front cross-member from a 73-87 and swap it in. You'll find some others on here who have done it.

I can tell you that the route I took wasn't cheap, but it was what I wanted and the money was available at the time. Went with ECE stuff, front and rear, all the goodies, staying with 6-lug pattern. Seems that parts and labor (my cousin cut me a real deal at $300 for all the labor), ran me almost $2K. But, I have a completely rebuilt front end with all the bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, upper/lower control arm shafts, complete disc brake conversion, new springs (front and rear), shock relocaters, shocks, front tires, alignment (factory spec) and adjustable track bar.

Drives like a dream, too.

I can't see a 71-2 disc brake setup being expensive. $100 should get you what you need.

Ya I was at a junk yard and he wanted $200 for a complete set up off a 72 chevy. And the rotors were junk.

I may just get the new rotors and pads and brake lines and bearings from autozone and get some lowering spindles.

Who sells lowering spindles for a good price?
