Re: mystery part

hmm, i think not since it was at the front of the truck, i removed both exhaust hangers from the factory spot, and threw em away.

Re: mystery part

That's without a doubt an exhaust hanger. My 72 GMC has on the frame cross member over the rear axle. It's a coil spring truck, not sure if the leaf trucks are different. There should be two indentations (for dual exhaust) to locate them on the back edge of the crossmember.

Re: mystery part

That's definitely the upper half of an exhaust hanger that attaches to the frame crossmember that is right above the rear axle on a coil spring truck. I believe it is unique to 1972.

Re: mystery part

above the rear axle.. hmm well this guy had welded his own hangers on the bottom of the bed, i assume he just threw this up in the front of the truck for keep-sake. i had a few brackets stuck in the front fenders and core support.

Re: mystery part

ok i found the exhaust hanger that i took off, and compared it to the "mystery part" the hanger has no welded on nuts, but they're identical other than that. i just wonder why he would store it in the front fender.. i'm tossing both hangers.
