Found 68 clip, woohoo!

An old friend of mine is moving and had to unload some old projects and various parts. He had this complete 68 clip and a NIB cowl hood. The price was right so now I have the early clip and can do my truck in the '67 look that I really wanted anyway. My chassis is almost done, just finishing the brake plumbing, soon onto painting my cab.

So should I tell people I am restoring a 71 or a 67? Its a pain to explain it everytime... On the upside, I have bought enough parts now that I could almost build two trucks!

This clip has not been messed with, original paint, no bondo, right fender will need some straightening.

My chassis progress.

Congrats on the find!
Are you going to remove the marker light to give it the 67 look?

I gotta get off my fat lazy ass and get some work done on my 67 longstep!

I am doing the same thing with a 69 and plan on deleting the side markers and the wrinkled chrome trim across the hood and the eyebrows, effectively giving it a 67 look.

Nice score! Any chance you want to sell off any of the trim from that clip? I would be interested.

Re: Found 68 clip, woohoo!

Yea, the red calipers, I have received some grief from a few of my friends about that. They say if they aren't some trick six pot aftermarket caliper you shouldn't paint them to stand out. Course I replied, what I can't be proud of my brand new $18 calipers!?

I am going to fill the side markers on that 68 clip. I already filled the gas filler and plan on filling the stake pockets too.

Anyone see the December issue of truck builder? That cover truck is exactly where I am headed, even the PPG Torch red color.

Thanks. Yes I am in Western Montana, Whitefish to be exact. I plan to keep the 71 parts, because I have nearly collected two truck's worth of parts. Actually I should have never taken my yellow Cheyenne apart, all I have used from it is the cab and front suspension...
