repro 71-72 sport mirrors

Just wondering about the quality of these mirrors, like if they start to get pitted within a year, etc... I've heard the repro outer door handles don't seem to last long, hoping the mirrors are better quality.

Anyone had the mirrors on for a while who could give an opinion would be much appreciated.

FYI, got a set of the repro door hinges and they look really good, will let y'all know how they work once they're on...

thanks for any input.

Re: repro 71-72 sport mirrors

I put repro's on my '71 and after a couple years they started to show some ware from all the rubbing I've done on them. I've had no pitting problems in them.

Re: repro 71-72 sport mirrors

I got a set of repop sport mirrors at the portland swap meet 2 years ago. Not sure what vendor I got them from. They have been on my blazer since then, and look really good still. No pitting.

I've had a set of repops on mine for over two years, no troubles either.

Re: repro 71-72 sport mirrors

I had reproduction sport mirrors on my K10. The stainless (?) part that the mirror mounts in was fine, the chrome plated mast that bolts to the door went all to hell on me. They got all of these little spiderweb looking lines in them. I ended up replacing them with GM parts. By the way they were on a truck that is stored out of the sun, and more often than not never driven in the rain.

Re: repro 71-72 sport mirrors

Not sure which are the sport mirrors but the mirror in the picture was installed by the PO in 2001 and is still in pretty good shape. Never parked indoors until this year. I found the receipt and it came from LMC.
I have had the same style on 71 pickup for a bit longer. Has never been parked outside but gets washed a fair bit. Mirrors are still in excellant shape.
