gears in rear end?

Is there a place that I can go to where I can type in my vin # and it will tell me every thing about my truck when it was new? I'm trying to see what gears are in the rear end.

Re: gears in rear end?

It will be a build code in the glove box. Example a G80 is a posi code.

Re: gears in rear end?

what tranny?
if it is an auto, or 4 speed, and has not been messed with, and has no option listed in the spid label in the glove box...
then you should have a 3.07 gear.

Only way to know for sure is to pop the cover off, count the teeth off each gear, divide the number from the small into the large, and that is your real no questions asked no B.S. gear ratio.
Your oil is probably 20 years old and worthless anyways.

Re: gears in rear end?

It's a auto, so it looks like it has 3.07 gears, I wish it had smaller gears, I just had a 700r4 drop in. I'm thinking they will be to tall for every day driveing. Tks guys.
