Re: Rare Blazer?

What you have here is the ART of story telling. This guy is good and would be great at a campfire.

What you also have is a bunch of bs. Think about it. You own the "rarest of rare" blazer. You bought if for $50. Would you have the patience(in all the excitement) to carefully craft such a piece of work(story)?
My post would be more like this:

Just bought a blazer with a 402 for $50!!!
HERE ARE THE PICS!!! Based on information from owner, it is a rare k5
purchased in 78, but its a prototype

Re: Rare Blazer?

Wellll....could be. I would need pics to become a believer myself. I have been a part of ck5 since the site opened back in 99....and i have somehow managed to be present for every ck5 sponser'd blazer bash since day one. And after this year i think i am going to be banned from the raffle at blazer bash. This year i won the soft top...and some other stuff so they called me the raffle whore...snicker. But after the years i find i don't post very much because of the posts like these or how big of lift do i need for x tires. I actually enjoy this website more because we seem to be true K5 lovers...2wd...4wd...chalets...and in between. And thats what i like...and thats why i got to help aaron with blazerchalet.com and his world famous brochure page.

But....working at a freightliner dealership for ten years or so...things about titles and such can be funny. I can accept the 78 title on a 68 vehicle because it was owned by the maker...and never titled...i would think it would be more up to the particular states laws...but it seems feaseable to me.

Worked on a new FCCC motorhome last summer. It was in transit to california from the plant to rv dealership. The C7 developed a oil in the water issue. CAT has a bulletin out with serial number ranges etc...the fix was a reman head according to CAT's guidelines...however due to federal law....to be sold as new CAT set me a brand new C7...if a reman head was installed it couldn't be sold as new. So i put a whole new motor in a vehicle with less than 3K on the clock...and btw...if someone wants you to put a motor in a motorhome....run!!!

Not that i believe what he is saying is true....but it is a possability.

Re: Rare Blazer?

I am not going to say true or untrue on my mans story but I will tell you this. I was at a car show one time. This guy has a butternut yellow 67 RS/SS camaro that he has tubbed out and done alot of mods to. I said nice 67. He says its a 66. I said excuse me its a 66. He shows me the title and it says 1966. In speaking with some camaro experts they believe it was one of the 20 or so proto types that were sent around to dealers in 66 leading up to the 67 season. As for the title saying panel. Don't doubt that a bit. I have a 71 thats a stationwagon and a 70 thats a c-10 on their titles but again you would have to see it

Re: Rare Blazer?

A good story incorporates "believable" aspects. This is what makes it a good story. People are out there looking for bigfoot and ufo's.

My story:
I have a bridge for sale at only $25.

Analysis:
1)Is it possible I have a bridge for sale?
--sure it could be possible.
2)Is it possible to buy something for $25 dollars?
--sure most people could that gets their attention!

3) would you give me the $25 for a paper deed, with no pics or actually seeing it?
---hopefully NOT! or I have a rare blazer for sale also!!

Re: Rare Blazer?

I did find a 69 Blazer, body off the frame and primered, frame has been sandblasted and primered. I found it at a sandblaster's yard. I asked that my name and number be given to the owner in case he loses interest. The sand blaster said the owner paid a local restorer a substantial down payment. The restorer dismantled the Blazer delivered to be sandblasted and primered, then he spent the money he was paid to buy parts and finish another customers job. Now he is broke and claims no money to pay for the blast and primer job. I will post some pictures if I get lucky.

Re: Rare Blazer?

When I registered my '71 Jimmy in AZ in '95 -- it had been a Calif vehicle -- the ADOT/MVD titled it as a "2DSW" = 2 door station wagon. [They also titled my '67 Sub as a 3 door station wagon.] Possibly the Sport Utility Vehicle designation would have been a much higher revenue bracket, and they were trying not to gouge me. Or that terminology didn't legally exist in the early K/5 vintage. As far as the " *3 Blazer," well... it had to start somewhere. I knew someday one would roll out of the mists like a Twilight Zone episode.

Re: Rare Blazer?

the difference in the "believable" and the "not believable" is that you can support with pics. Simple. No pics of this "rare" find for $50 , not believable.

1st:States do titles, factories don`t.2nd:Need to see it.3rd:Are the rivets original?4tho the numbers match the frame numbers?5th:Where did they find a 402 in`68.Better yet, where did they find the emblems?6th:Where was the "400" fender emblem located, under "Blazer K/5" or under side-marker?

7th:Sounds like a BSer Bsing a BSer.

Could be,but not enough here to get me goin`.I wunder if it hasall the other pre-69 features...steering wheel, seat and door upholstery, color of interior paint or upholstery, reflectors for side-markers.I wunder which t-case it has(Rockwell?).

Re: Rare Blazer?

UPDATE:

Current rumor has it that this rare blazer had only 4 previous owners....Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Adolf Hitler, and Elvis bought it together to road trip to Brazil where they all still live together in a 2 bedroom condo on the coast. Jimmy Carter drove it back 2 years before he was president....he's really Adolf's and Elvis' love child.

These are the kind of stories where nobody believes the guy and he gets mad just as he supposedly got some pics and then decides not to show us!!! Seen it before.

I am fairly close to where he is. I would be willing to drive there and take some pictures, just to get to see it, if it is for real. Or maybe just to prove that he is lying. Im not a CK5 member, or I would post there. Someone try and set it up and I will drive there to meet him and see the truck.

Re: Rare Blazer?

I would really believe the *3 Blazer story if it was originally equipped with a 292 L6. 292s OEM in K/5s are so rare as to be non-existant. Now that I found out the 4x4 needs a 292-specific diagonal crossmember [and have one] I know why it wasn't a regular production option and dealers were so resistant to that engine. As far as the big block option, a 396 would've been a lot more believable for a late '68 prototype.
Of course if the truck was an original hugger orange, then it would just have to be true.
