Biggest tires on stock 4wd?
]Okay, what tires will fit the trucks unlifted or mildly adjusted torrsion bar on 99-02 4x4? in 16", 17" or 18" I'm looking at buying a used truck with 100K on it and sprucing it up. Post some good pics if you have them too.

Re: Biggest tires on stock 4wd?
Are you asking about rim size or tire size? The stock rim size, I believe, is 16". 265/75/R16 are what are on my 00 Z71 and I believe they are stock. I wouldn't go much bigger on tire size on a stock truck. I looked at my truck and it doesn't appear to have a whole lot more room in the fenderwells without a lift. Sorry for the crappy pic, but it is the only one I have on my comp.

Re: Biggest tires on stock 4wd?
What I was referring to is if you have 16" wheels what can you put on? 17", 18". I'm not big on 20's for 4wd. in the 16's I thought 285/75/16's would fit? No offense by this but with those uniroyal tires you can tell much difference between it and a 2wd other than the z71 stickers.

None taken, tires came with the truck when I bought it about 9 months ago. Tires are expensive, so I'm gonna keep em till they're bald then go with something beefier. They suck in the rain too. As far as rim size I've seen 20's on an 06 sierra... so I'm sure any rim will fit, just depends on the tire size you want

I like the indigo blue. I will probably try to find one that color. Probably 17" wheels with a BFG all terrain will be what I do.

Re: Biggest tires on stock 4wd?
17s come on the 2004 and up, I believe, stock. I know those will bolt on the older trucks, probably all the way back to 1988. I don't know the size. I *do* know that with stock wheels and the torsion bars cranked, you can fit 285's under the 4x4. The second you change the wheels, though, watch out. My truck has a few inches of offset added to it, and despite only having 285's, I need a bit more lift than the stock torsion bar keys can provide to turn the wheel stop-to-stop.
GM sells "factory" 20's to put on their trucks, now, and they've done so since 2004, I believe. I think they look pretty good, but kind of pull something away from the "Z71 Off Road" sticker. :P |
