Re: What carburetor do you use?

Edelbrock 1901 Q-Jet.....getting an honest 10+mpg, whether parked or on the road. Oh, it's better than the Edelbrock 1405 I had.....by almost 25 percent. Got stock 3.08 gears, with 255-70R15's on the back. Speedometer is off by almost 5mph, at an indicated 55mph....on the cop's side of the equation! I would have to plead stupid, if stopped.

Re: What carburetor do you use?

Factory Quadrabog 4bbl (780 cfm?), 11-12 mpg city, not sure about highway. Don't plan any long trips!

'72 C20, 402/700R4 (non-lock), factory 3.54 dana, HEI ignition

I plan on swapping up to a lock-up converter someday. Should help quite a bit I think.

Re: What carburetor do you use?

When I had the 383 in my truck I used a Holley 750 dp with mechanical secondaries and got about 8 mpg (driving the snot out of the truck). With the new 350 I have a rebiult Q-jet off of a mid 70's Pontiac, I guess a 600-650 and I get around 18 around town with TH350/3.73's.

Re: What carburetor do you use?

570 Holley Street Avenger on a GM crate 350, TH350, 3.73 gear. I get about 13 or 14 mpg. It runs ten times better than the 600 Edelbrock I had before.

Buckman, Are you looking at buying a new carb? If so, what will you be putting it on? Is it a stock engine, cammed stock, or modified engine? Or are you just asking out of curiosity?

Re: What carburetor do you use?

625 Road Demon but don't know about gas mileage yet because the truck is in the paint shop and I just got everything running again.

When I had it on the stock 350 it got about the same milage (but made a lot more power) as the 750 Q-Jet it replaced which was 12-15 MPG.

Re: What carburetor do you use?

Quadrajet, with a bad leaking problem. I think it leaks as much as it burns! so I would put my gas mileage at around... ohh, I'd like to say maybe 8 gallons to the miles :P nah, maybe 8mpg, or less. I don't drive or run it too much, and don't plan to until I get either a new carb or get mine rebuilt. But on a previous trip, I think I probably used two gallons in about a 15 mile run or so. So I would put mileage around 5-8
