ProForm Chevrolet engien dress up kit

Hey, I am wanting to get rid of my chrome K&N filter air cleaner and Moroso Valve Covers and go with ProForm Engine dress up kit. Trouble is that I am undecided on the Black wrinkle finish or the Grey powder with blue accents.. The darn sets do not show real engines with them on. Id like to see pics of both sets on an engine to help me determine which set Id like to get. My engine is black, and I have a Performer intake, and thought if I go black, should I paint the intake black as well??? If I go with thte powder grey set, I can leave the intake the way it is, Please add some pics with both sets to help me figure out which set to buy.Tehy retail here for about $260 canadian for the grey set and $240 for the black set. It includes, air cleaner, vavle cover, timing chain cover, valve cover tie downs. All with the Chevrolet indsignia and bowties.

Can't really make out your avitar very well but I bought a set from Jegg's that were grey powder coat with a blue bowtie and red "chevrolet". Or maybe it was the other way around. If this is the same set I thought the bowties on every little piece were a little over the top.
It also didn't say anything about the valve covers being taller so they didn't end up working for me beacause my AC compressor wouldn't clear? I wish I would have known that before I spent a few hours putting them on only to learn I had to take them right back off!!!
Can someone post a link to the sets the original post is asking about?

Re: ProForm Chevrolet engien dress up kit

Ther may be a problem with the clearance on the older trucks with the heavier duty A/C units, but the newer ones with the radial compressors have plenty of room. I have tall valve covers on my engine and it is no problem getting all of the accessories to work. My engine had the Proform polished aluminum covers on it and they worked great. The valve covers are now on my son's truck and I have a set of chromed covers from Street and Perfromance (Mena, Ark.).

Re: ProForm Chevrolet engien dress up kit

I 2nd the chrome or polished aluminum I actually hate the black crinkle and grey. That's my opinion though, they are OK but IMO if you are going to spend that cash why not have something flashy? I see alot of thoose esp. the grey on the monte carlo site I'll see if I can find some pics for you of them.

Just so you know it's not just my taste on thoose but wheels too. I hate painted wheels lol. If you want painted why not keep rally wheels and paint them, then stick on some trim rings. Some basic idea as some of them new wheels. I run polished aluminum on my monte carlo with the chevy power cut in them and a botiw with 3 grooves, very nice setup.

Re: ProForm Chevrolet engien dress up kit

I like the black ones myself, and go with a good shiney intake manifold.

Chrome /SHINEY / slick and smooth is good. So I think, I couldn't get into the black and wrinkle finishes.

Re: ProForm Chevrolet engien dress up kit

Me either, only real thing I have black is my pulleys and alt. bracket, I definately am going to change the alt. bracket, and maybe one day hope to change the pulleys and power steering pump. I know my headers are black too but I can't afford coated lol, maybe later.

sorry guys that's not in a truck but it was in my 76 c10.

Re: ProForm Chevrolet engien dress up kit

i did not buy the whole kit . just the valve covers and timing cover.
i should have just bought the air cleaner and valve cover since the timing cover is almost invisible behing all the accessories. i also went with spectre valve cover hold downs to match the oil and trans dip.
