hey i have a 76' gmc 3/4 ton 4x4 and i want to get around 15 to 20 inches of lift. what do i need, because i havnt found any kits for more that 10 inches. If anyone has some parts they want to sell me for this i would apreciate it. thanks

What in the hell do you want to lift it that high for?? Just get some flat stock and have it bent to like a U, so the high side of the spring is about 22" from the ground to the center pin. You will get more flex out of that than a set of springs. Either get a custom set of springs, drop down hangers, probly both. Probly a body lift too.

I'm thinking that this is one of those "If you have to ask....." types of questions.

It is far more involved to get something like that working than your typical kit can offer. If you really don't have a clue about where to begin........leave it alone.

a kit? there isnt one.. it depends on what you plan to do with it and how much $$ you want to spend...

12" superlift springs & 3" bodylift for off the shelf stuff. After that it's all custom. Then you have driveline angles/steering correction to contend with. If your 3/4 ton is stock, the dana 44 up front will have to be replaced. Then gearing for the larger tires.

Hope you own a bank. Cost lots of money to do what you are asking. Like
Jims70gmc has stated if you have a dana 44 forget using it. You really need
to do a straight axle conversion and go with one ton stuff. You didn't say
what your plans for using this truck were but with that much lift you will be
putting a lot of stress on the running gears and with those large tires you
will need crossover steering to take out some of the bump steer. I never
want to toss cold water on anyones ideas but I just want to point out the
fact that it will take a lot of work and a lot of cash. Good luck.

He has a 76, so no need to do a SAS. But it is a major PITA to go that high, been there, done that. Driveline was my major PITA. My truck is a reg cab LWB, and running a div case I thought that I would be good, waaaaay wrong. The rear output was maxed out just sitting there. Cause of the shackle flip and no shocks, the rear lifted when you hit the gas, and you could feel the joint hitting the yoke. That was about 14-15" of lift. Somehow, (and it ticks me off when I think about) a friend of mine took his 95 Dodge reg cab SHORT BOX and put 44s underneath it. All he did was lower the case alittle, and he can do like 80 on the highway, and no CV on the rear. It can be done, but don't expect it to be done cheap, and have it safe. If this is gonna be a road queen, the only dirt/mud it will see is driveway, then the stock axles will be ok. Can still do crossover. At Bloomsburg I saw a truck with 49s and 10 bolts front and rear, and springs that looked like he robbed them off a McDonald's sign and turned them upside down.....

I know www.offroadunlimited.com sells custom knuckles to correct for the steering parts likeyour draglink and tie rods....so they might be able to help you out with the rest.

That much lift is unnecessary I think. It would be hard to get driveshafts to work unless it's a crew cab long box. My brother has one with around 10" of lift and it looks like it's all the higher you would want to go.Actually it may be a little big.He doesn't have driveshafts yet so I can't say how that will work yet. If you want 10" I would go with 6" rears up front and 6" rears and a shackle flip in the back.

I had a 8" suspention lift, 3" body and cut out fenders to clear my 44"s. With that setup, my driveline angles werent that bad. I used a drop pitman arm and a drop drag link for the steering. The tires would rub every now and then but rubbins racin

For all who asked why.... THis is what I had in mind for my 4x4. I had to sell my 87' dually about 2 years ago. it was on 37inch swampers and I loved it. it was around 8 inches shackle flip. I wanted to keep my 76' stock axles for a while though till i have the money for dana 60's. How much can a stock dana 44 go for?

That Red truck looks like it might have 10" or so.It looks pretty cool.The D44 will hold 35" if you're wheelin it hard.Much bigger if you aren't wheelin' it. Keep me in mind when you are ready for a D60.

custom suspension will make you anything up to a 30in lift spring... customsuspension.com hope that helps

many years ago there was a goofy kid here in town with a late 70s f-150, he put on the biggest lift he could get but it still wasn't high enough for him so he bought another truck the same vintage, pulled everything off of it and stacked the frame on top of the frame of his first truck. it ended up super high-- then it ended up on it's lid.

If you really want to lift it, Jerry Moss reminded me of what my buddy Chuck did. He did this to two trucks. I should be able to get pics of the latest one. He has a Ramcharger that he stacked the frame on. Put the motor and trans in the lower frame so it's too top heavy. I think he said a 6" lift, but then just an add-a-leave, so not really sure, then a 3" body lift, and it clears 44s with ease. Maybe clear 49s. Only problem I see and he had, was with the drivelines. He ran a div. case, and his rear driveshaft was maxed out sitting there. I think stacking the frame is good for 6-7" of lift.

sbc940, I can sell my D60 front out of my truck, it's completely rebuilt. I have a new set of 4:56s that go with it, just need a carrier and install 'em. Truck has 3:73s in it now. $1500.
