Question Dark Green Paint codes 70-72

Ok, well, I am leaving the driver truck Green, and the original color was Dark Olive Green.
Is there another GM DARK GREEN color that is darker and better looking than the Oilve one that I can get a paint code for?
I saw a GMC here locally painted a darker green and it looked good!
To me , there is too much GOLD metallic in the Olive color to suit me!
Pics???
Truck pics with Dark Green?
Thanx!

Nice LINK!
Hard to determine the actual appearance on that chart...
Thanx!
Maybe that 505 color code is what I am seeing!
The Cab I bought from GreenHorn was a darker green than the one originally on my truck. Maybe this is the color I saw on the GMC, clear coated and rubbed out....it sure looked good!

Re: Dark Green Paint codes 70-72

The glove box build sheet calls this "Dark Green". I think it is also called "Woodland Green". It is code 505.

This is the 505 code?
Hhmmm...
Non metallic I suppose?
This looks more like a smooth dark green to me.
Maybe the color I saw the other day was not a color offered in those years?
Is there another dark green I am searching for?

It doesn't look anything like the color on the page of chips from the previous link. The build sheet says dark green. All of the touchups I have had done over the years have been done with paint code 505.

Re: Dark Green Paint codes 70-72

I have a love/hate relationship with my 506 Dark Olive (Metalic) -- just for the reason you stated: too much gold metalic in it.

If you want to keep it factory colors then it is the 506 DarK Olive Metalic or the 505 Dark Green. We had a 505 Dark Green '72 and it was like see ten's picture there.

Since I have owned both greens, I lean towards the Dark Olive as the gold only shows on sunshine days up here in Minnesota. I like the Dark Olive Green much better in terms of "green" then the dark green (non-metallic). In the shade or cloudy days, the olive really looks nice.

Maybe try a shot of the Metalic Dark Olive only have the paint shop put in like half the gold metalic parts and just paint a fendor or door or hood and see how you like it.

Re: Dark Green Paint codes 70-72

I've been having the same love/hate debate on what to do with my 70 "green machine". I think the 506 dark olive metallic will look good, since the old paint is so weathered, but if there is something nicer and somewhat "correct" I'm open for suggestions. Not green, but saw a yellow one the other day' looked pretty sharp, is there a nice factory yellow ???

How about painting silver under the lower trim like some of the newer trucks ???

heres a link with some green trucks

Re: Dark Green Paint codes 70-72

OK, I saw two trucks there that appeared as my original color; although I would like to get a dark green version closer to what is in this image from that link:
The shortbed with the white top and white lower section.
Does anyone know the color code of this one???

That looks better!
Maybe my truck had been repainted a lighter version of this green.
I like that!
Thanx!
