NOS GM 997879 Oil Cooler Kit 81 up Ebay...

Not sure if i am allowed to post a heads up for a part on ebay in this forum but it is a good find. Ebay 8019854109...NOS GM 997879 oil cooler kit C/K truck. Don't see these come up very often...and i have bought and installed two of these over the years. Its for an 81 core support judging from the brackets and the gm installation diagrams. There were two bracket variants for 73-80's...the first is a one year only in 73 then in 74 the whole mounting system changed. The upper brackets for the 74-80's are a lot longer and harder to find for some reason unknown to me. He's asking a hundred bones and no paypal...he's in PA somewhere. Hope someone can use one.

Re: NOS GM 997879 Oil Cooler Kit 81 up Ebay...

Found out there was one of those on the donor Blazer we pulled the engine and tranny from a few weeks ago. Unfotuneatly didn't realize what it was until after we had already sawzall'ed throught the lines? The front was pretty bent up so we were just cutting away.
The cooler part was still good although the mounting brackets are a little bent up. I kept everything except the lines in case I want to go that way in the future.

Re: NOS GM 997879 Oil Cooler Kit 81 up Ebay...

On my chalet i ran the factory lines that came in the kit.

On my 79 it took so long to find the like "gold" upper brackets i decided to go to the hydro store and see if i could conversion fittings to run 6AN with aeroquip lines and fittings. And it worked out really nice.

I also have squirlled away another gm kit. Its a nos trans cooler kit from back in the day. Also i have seen a few 73-75 models with a factory power steering
cooler that runs through the core support with a grommet like they used for the a/c lines. The cooler itself was just tube like the late 80's used but not mounted to the bottom of the core support.
