front end question
is there any difference in the front ends part from a 70 to a 72? (except the spindles and drums) I have the opportunity to get a free front end off of a truck(cut off in front of the cab). I was mainly wanting it so i could clean up the crossmember and a arms and get them powder coated or painted without having my whole truck torn apart. Then i would use my spindles and disc off my current truck.
Any info would be great Thanks |

Re: front end question
I remember something about losing some turning radius when using 71-72 spindles with the older lower a arms. John

Re: front end question
I put a '71 under a '68. I changed everything out. I think the Upper and Lowers are the same. Everything else is different including tie rods and ball joints.

Re: front end question
agree with Steelaworkin, most likely your 70 has 5/8" LH thread outer tie rods. The 71 and up will require an 11/16" RH thread outer tie rods. You have options to get around this. I run 72 spindles on my 67 and if I lost any turning radius, I have not noticed it.

Re: front end question
when i put dics up front on my '69, i took a complete front disc brake k-member from a '72 c-10 and swapped it out. the only thing that didn't line up was the front bolts holes on both side. all i had to do to fix this was to grind the hole in the frame out a little more to make them fit. i haven't had any porblems with it.
