Later year wheels?

I have a guy who is selling his 20" wheels off of his 2000 Yukon. Will they fit with out any problems on my 6 lug. Will the back spacing be a problem? I have front disc on my 68 now.

Re: Later year wheels?

More than likely the back spacing will be a problem. I had to put wheel spacer on mine to get them to fit (18" Budnick wheels that came off a late model truck).

Re: Later year wheels?

So what is the proper back spacing measurements for stock then? So does this mean that they will rub on the inside as you turn?

ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) says anything larger than 15-inch diameter, can be 4.5-inch back space. If they're 15-inch, then 4-inch backspace is the max.

I bought a set of 20's from a new Silverado. You will need to run spacers to get them to fit. Also the hub size in the back will not allow the wheel to be mounted without a spacer or machining of the hub of the axle.

Correct. Backspacing as mentioned will need to be 4.5" if you want it to look right and not rub the inner fenders. Newer style wheels (especially if he's pulling from a Tahoe) will most likely be in the 5.25" range. That's gonna be too much. If you have a disc conversion up front, then depending on your spindle it may work. Mine did. Out back I had to run 1.5" spacers though, and I'm running 20x8.5" wheels with 5.25" backspacing. Hope this helps.

Re: Later year wheels?

1.5 spacer? Wow. Thought it was going to be easy. The guy wants to sell his custom wheels before trading in the yukon, so I can get them pretty reasonable. I know to have a set made with the correct back spacing cost an arm and a leg.

Re: Later year wheels?

Yeah, that's why I decided to just run the spacers. My truck's not a daily driver so I'm not too concerned about them. If you go this route, just make sure you torque everything down good, then re-torque everything about 100 miles later just to be on the safe side.
